报告人简介：
Dr. William Joseph Murphy received B.Sc. from Illinois State University in 1992, and Ph.D. from Tulsa University, USA in 1997. After postdoctoral training from 1997 to 2003 at the laboratory of Genomic Diversity, National Cancer Institute-Frederick and National Institutes of Health, he became a senior scientist at the laboratory of Genomic Diversity in National Cancer Institute. In 2013, he was appointed as a professor in the Department of Veterinary Integrative Biosciences at Texas A&M University. He has won several awards since 1996, such as the Texas A&M University Presidential Impact Fellow that he had just won last year. From 2017 to present, he serves as the editor in Chief in Journal of Heredity.
Dr. Murphy’s lab focuses on mammalian comparative genomics, phylogeny, biogeography, and molecular evolution, with a specific emphasis on feline evolutionary genomics, including: gene mapping, sex chromosome genetics, speciation and mechanisms of male hybrid sterility. Additional interests include killifish evolution and life history.
